Challenge
Describing Giacomo Zanella's poetry, on the occasion of the bicentenary, using contemporary, respectful, educational language that is capable of stirring emotions.
Solution
An immersive and interactive experience, in the company of the poet, which faithfully reproduces his birthplace and the most symbolic places, accompanying visitors on an emotional and evolutionary journey through his artistic career.
The project
The Municipality of Chiampo and a group of local entrepreneurs wanted to transform Giacomo Zanella's bicentenary into a lively and participatory event.
The challenge was to portray the poet not only through his verses, but also as a man connected to his community, finding a contemporary language capable of exciting, educating and respecting his poetics.
With Zanella VR, virtual reality transforms his verses into an immersive and interactive experience. Visitors enter a 3D environment that recreates the poet's birthplace and the most symbolic places of his life, experiencing an intimate encounter with his art. Images, sounds and words merge in an emotional journey guided by Zanella's voice, from the melancholy of his early compositions to the brightness of his poetic maturity. Zanella VR makes poetry a universal and accessible language, transforming the project into a permanent cultural heritage. The experience is available in schools, libraries, museums and public events, and has generated collateral initiatives – tours, events and educational activities – that have involved the entire community.
Inside the experience
Wearing the headset, the user is transported inside Giacomo Zanella's birthplace in Chiampo, where, accompanied by the poet's theatrical voice, they will experience a journey of discovery of his poetry and the places that inspired him. From initial restlessness to a lyrical joy full of colour, the experience recounts Zanella's metamorphosis through emotions and images that bring his poetry to life.
About the design
The visual design and content have been carefully curated to preserve the authenticity of the locations and offer an immersive and contemporary experience. Colours, lights and sounds accompany the user on Zanella's poetic journey, while Oculus Go ensures immediacy and accessibility. The project is the result of a collaboration between experts in Zanella's history and poetry, 3D artists, narrative designers, sound designers and game engine specialists, who together have ensured that the content is faithful and respectful of his memory. The online and offline teaser campaign involved the community and generated enthusiasm. With the support of the Municipality of Chiampo and local entrepreneurs, Zanella VR demonstrates how technology can become a powerful tool at the service of culture and new generations.
